The course is in a valley at an elevation of 3,000 feet below the peak of Mt. Mitchell. It is mostly flat with bentgrass from tee to green. Received a four-star rating from Golf Digest's "Places to Play." Ranked in top 10 public courses in the state by North Carolina Magazine, March 1998. Back (70.0 rating, 131 slope); Middle (6125 yards, 68.1 rating, 121 slope); Forward (5455 yards, 70.9 rating, 131 slope). 18 holes, par 72. lodge, clubhouse, lounge, putt. green, pro shop, rentals. Restaurant on site. Open April-October.
